Happy New Year

A few weeks ago I was talking about how much I enjoy the wealth of information that can be found in Google analytics. Now that 2011 is officially over it is time to do some year to year comparative analysis. Both unique visits and percent of new visitors are up over last year.  I think it's a good sign that new people are discovering CrochetKiosk on a frequent basis.


Some other neat statistics for 2011:
-CrochetKiosk was visited from 27 different countries
-Not surprisingly most views came from the United States. Brazil came in second.
-Visits came from 46 states and the District of Columbia
  -Next year I hope to hit Alaska, Hawaii, Maine and Montana to round out all corners of the US.


It's my hope that in 2012 CrochetKiosk will continue to expand its reach to new audiences. Happy New Year!

Ready for Christmas?

Now that Thanksgiving has passed how far along are you in your Christmas preparations? Is your tree decorated and lights and stockings hung? How far have you gotten down your shopping list? If you plan on completing online shopping, I recommend you finish up those items this week. You wouldn't want to order a gift and then it not arrive in time to wrap and give it.

I hope while your out shopping, you consider giving handmade gifts. Whether you are buying supplies to create your own handmade gifts or buying a finished handmade item (from CrochetKiosk) make it a memorable Christmas by incorporating that personal handmade touch.

Lovin' Google Analytics

I love trudging through google analytics. There are so many variables available that you can use to determine customer trends. Even though it might not be the most useful, my personal favorite tool is looking under visitor demographics at the location. This brings up the world map with shading for countries that visitors came from. You can also go more in depth and look at individual states and cities. I find it amazing that people from around the world are hearing about CrochetKiosk and are compelled to come and visit. 

If there was one thing I could wish for, it is that google picked up a bigger percentage of visits. From what I understand google analytics misses anywhere from 20-50% of visitors. I know that it is hard to be completely accurate considering the people who block cookies can not be tracked.  However, if there was a way to track a higher percentage of visitors, it would lead to a lot more pretty colored places on my location map. Also, the higher percentage of visitors that are tracked the more accurate all of the other analytic variables are. I encourage you to try google analytics and see which parameters work best and are the most fun for you.
